Family Therapy or Counselling

What is the difference between Family Therapy and Counselling?

As Family and Systemic Psychotherapists we have particular skills in working with all aspects of family life, including children, adolescents and grandparents

We have considerable experience in working with stepfamilies, new families and same sex couples, and we always take account of ethnicity and cultural issues.

When someone in your family has a problem this is usually interwoven into the whole of family life. Family therapists help family members find constructive ways to help each other and explore possible ways forward.

There may be some similarities with counselling, but usually counselling is directed at one person, and focused on a specific problem or difficulty.
